The increase of space activities in recent decades has been
generating a lot of space debris, which are dispersed in different
regions of interest, such as the GNSS orbit in MEO region. To
avoid the collision of these debris with operational satellites,
disposal strategies have been adopted. An example is the
repositioning of the satellites of the GNSS into orbits 500 km
above or below the nominal orbit. However, it is already known
that this type of strategy could not work in long term.
Instabilities in the disposal regions can change the orbits
elements, such as the semi-major axis (resonance 2:1 spin-orbit)
and eccentricity (resonance 2\$\omega\$+\$\Omega\$). Thus,
the non-operational satellite can cross the nominal orbits. To
avoid this problem, an alternative is the removal of the satellite
to re-entry (de-orbit). So, the present study provides the
de-orbit, with the help of solar radiation pressure, as an
alternative for satellites in regions subject to resonances. This
work is focused on finding the initial conditions longitude of the
ascending node and argument of the perigee to de-orbit of the
satellites of the GPS and Galileo constellations. At the end of
the study, it was found sets of initial conditions with minimal
growth of eccentricity and regions with maximum eccentricity
growth. Both regions are of interest. The first one reduces the
risk of collision during the de-orbit and the second one is a
region where the de-orbit happens faster, because the perigee
radius decreases fast. Through the integral of the accelerations,
it was possible to measure the overall contribution of each
disturbance during the time of de-orbit. At the end, through case
studies within the LEO region, we analyzed the behavior of the
device of area-to-mass variation and/or reflectivity coefficient
variation orbits close to the Earth.",
